In light of the professional dispositions the unit requires of teacher candidates when addressing faculty, it is equally important that Dr. Stokes model professional greetings when addressing students.

Dr. Stokes is often anxious to move forward on initiatives of interest.  While her proactive approach brings energy to the unit, it is also important for her to be aware of the timelines of others with whom she works.

Other comments

We have been working this year to plan a technology strand in initial teacher certification programs.  Dr. Stokes has been very involved in this initiative.  She made a presentation and sought feedback from our K-12 partners at the spring Education Advisory Council meeting.  She followed up with a survey to gain additional information about technology needs and uses in K-12 schools.  She began work on technology courses to accompany the field-based sequence.  As well Dr. Stokes is planning a summer technology session to involve several of our K-12 partners and current students.  Dr. Stokes spent a great of time assisting School of Education colleagues in developing electronic pedagogical tools for use in their classes and with our K-12 partners.  For example, she assisted with the development of co-teaching training webinars.

When I asked Dr. Stokes to be part of a faculty search committee in our unit, she immediately agreed to do so and invested a great deal of time and energy helping to evaluate the applicants.  She completed the set-up for Skype interviews and brought in questioning around the ISTE-NETS standards.

Outside the unit Dr. Stokes concentrated on expanding and enhancing the Center for Transformational Learning (CTL).  She served on the Faculty Assembly Committee and helped move forward the core revision process.   Her work on the ACIT and ACIR committees helped the unit stay up to speed on the LMS adoption planned for the 2013-2014 academic year.
